British Values

What are British values?

The Department for Education takes its definition of British values from the Home Office’s Prevent strategy.

Page 34 of the Prevent strategy document, which can be found via the link below, defines fundamental British values as:

• Democracy
• The rule of law
• Individual liberty
• Mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs
