Keeping Our Children & Young People Healthy And Well In North Yorkshire’ Information– that can be shared with parents and carers from the outcomes of the Growing up in North Yorkshire survey 2024

Every two years since 2006 North Yorkshire Council has done the Growing Up in North Yorkshire survey with children and young people in schools across North Yorkshire to find out what they think about various aspects of health, wellbeing and learning/education.  The 2024 County and Area reports can be accessed here.

Healthy Schools Award

Springhead School is committed to promoting making healthy choices throughout our curriculum. We are currently working towards achieving the “Healthy Schools Award” and will update families on our progress.

Emotion Coaching:

Emotion Coaching is based on the principle that nurturing and emotionally supportive relationships provide optimal contexts for the promotion of children’s outcomes and resilience.

Staff at Springhead have been trained in the theory and methods of emotion coaching and it has been used successfully with a number of students. It helps pupils and young people to recognise and understand their emotions, validates their feelings, and then encourages them through discussion to come up with a solution of how to move forward and develop coping strategies.

Compass Phoenix

Compass Phoenix (North Yorkshire) – Compass

Supporting Children & Young People in North Yorkshire

The aim of the Compass Phoenix service is to improve outcomes for children and young people (aged 9-19 and up to 25 for those with special educational needs or disabilities) in relation to their emotional wellbeing and mental health, by strengthening the range of mental health support available to children and young people.

In order for referral to be accepted the young person must meet at least one of the following criteria:

• Enrolled in an education setting within North Yorkshire

• Reside in North Yorkshire (excluding the city of York)

• Registered with a GP in North Yorkshire
