Healthy Schools Award

The North Yorkshire Healthy Schools award covers four key themes which can be worked on in any order, depending on the school’s individual priorities.

These are:

  • Active Lifestyles
  • Emotional Health & Wellbeing
  • Food in Schools
  • Personal, Social & Health Education (including Sex & Relationships Education).

Children’s Mental Health Week

Currently we are focusing on developing our “PSHE” and “Emotional Health and Wellbeing” provision. As part of this work we participated in the Children’s Mental Health Week, where pupils were encouraged to express themselves through creative arts. The students chose to interpret this by producing art work, music and dance.

#BeWaterAware

Springhead School were asked to take part in a Water Safety Initiative by Blue Watch at Scarborough Fire Station. The aim of the initiative was to make people aware of the dangers of playing or going into open water such as rivers, lakes and the sea.  They provided us with lots of pebbles and invited the students to decorate them in the most imaginative way possible to attract the attention of people and include the message #BeWaterAware.

If you are out and about in Scarborough especially around North or South Bay, have a look and see if you can spot any of the #BeWaterAware pebbles!

Resources

As well as supporting schools, there are a number of resources available which can be used by families to help promote a healthy lifestyle.
